Today I became obsessed with a Brigitte Bardot song. I love how perfectly it translates into modern, i.e., my life. Loose, incomplete, and incorrect:

You want it or you don’t.
If you do, great.
If you don’t, that’s too bad
but it’s not like I’m going to make myself sick over it.
So just tell me yes or no.
It’s like this or like that: you want it or you don’t.

You want it or you don’t.
You say something’s black and then you say it’s white.
“It’s black, it’s black, yeah but no wait it’s white, it’s white.”
It’s black or white
but it’s not black and white
It’s like this or like that: you want it or you don’t.

[Ed.: LOVE the play on the black-and-white it's-complicated trope.]

Life’s a series of tricks
and it’s like music–
it’s got good parts and bad*.
Right now life’s going great for me
and I’m not letting you fuck it up with your dithering.

You want it or you don’t.
If you do, great.
If you don’t, that’s too bad
but it’s not like I’m going to make myself sick over it.
So just tell me yes or no.
It’s like this or like that: you want it or you don’t.

Life is pretty sweet
and you could make it even better.
That vision is calling us.
In fact, life will be fucking beautiful
if you come to my house.
So–you want it or you don’t.

Your turn.
